Due April 23rd, 2010 - The St. Johns River is one of our country’s most important waterways. Our river is home to an impressive diversity of wildlife and plants. The St. Johns has a fascinating and rich history. It provides numerous opportunities for recreation and exploration and is critical to our economy and quality of life. Yet, our river is polluted and needs our help.

This is your chance to inform the public about a problem impacting the health of the St. Johns, to offer solutions, to inspire action, or to express why your river is important and must be protected. You decide what you think is the most important and compelling message that the public needs to hear about your river. Be a voice for the river!

Your entry should be a 60 second (or less) Public Service Announcement video that raises awareness of the St. Johns River and the importance of protecting it.

Here are some of the examples of challenges facing the river that you may choose to focus on:
- Nutrient pollution and “The Green Monster” algal blooms
- Water withdrawals
- Sedimentation or construction-site runoff
- Bacteria pollution in the creeks and tributaries
- Loss of wetlands and important habitat for plants and wildlife
- Lack of public appreciation or knowledge about the history, ecology, recreational opportunities, or economic value of the river.
