Using classic footage, make the case for or against legal marijuana.
Ryan Francis from Santa Clarita, CA

Due October 4th, 2010 -
Mash up the classic drug education films provided here to create a persuasive short film. The challenge is compete against other filmmakers in transforming this dated material into something that speaks to contemporary audiences – and convinces them to vote for or against legalizing marijuana.
You pay a $4.99 fee to enter the Marijuana Mash-Up and download the contest materials we provide. Then use your own editing system – along with your sense of humor, filmmaking ability, and storytelling skill – to create a persuasive short film that runs between one and two minutes.
You could lace your film with comedy or drama, thrills or chills, parody or satire – or something else entirely. But because everyone is using the same materials, you’ll be judged not by your budget, connections, or stars, but by your skill, creativity, and persuasiveness.
We’ll post every entry on the web and decide on a top ten – and then a panel of news and entertainment professionals will choose the Marijuana Mash-up’s best short film.
What’s more, we’ll use our entertainment and journalism connections to market, promote, and sell the best contest entries to audiences and broadcasters worldwide, giving the filmmakers most of the profit.
