Due February 27th, 2012 - Allstate has an impressive legacy of supporting safety legislation. They were among the first to support seatbelt and airbags laws as well as shepherding other educational efforts beneficial to the lives of American drivers.

Allstate is supporting a pivotal piece of legislation designed to help prevent teen driving deaths - the STANDUP (Safe Teen and Novice Driver Uniform Protection) Act (S.528, H.R. 515).

The STANDUP Act would set national minimum standards for Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) laws. GDL programs introduce teens to the driving experience gradually and in lower risk settings. According to the CDC, strong GDL laws can reduce teen driver crashes by up to 40% among 16 year olds. (Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2008)
