Due July 4th, 2018 - Safety is the Ohio Turnpike's top priority, so they are joining a nationwide safety campaign aimed at raising awareness to end texting behind the wheel. This movement encourages drivers to make their thumbs red to remind them to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times. It’s an old-school solution to a 21st Century issue, fueled by the evolution and accessibility of technology at drivers’ fingertips.

Through strong community engagement, the Ohio Turnpike hopes to bring the Red Thumb Movement home to Ohio, placing Red Thumb bands emblazoned with “W82TXT” and their name on driver’s thumbs as a visual reminder to avoid distracted driving.

The W82TXT videplayo contest corresponds with what’s become known as the “100 Deadliest Days,” which are the summer months roughly between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety has found new teen drivers ages 16-17 years old are three times as likely as adults to be involved in a deadly crash during this period. It is our hope that by engaging teens during this critical time of the year, their efforts, shared on social media, will raise awareness to this deadly situation and influence peers to make safe choices while behind the wheel.

Video must promote the goal of "Towards Zero Deaths" using themes such as:
 -Texting while Driving
 -Distracted Driving

Entries should be between 6 - 60 seconds in length.
