Due October 31st, 2018 - Want to tell your #EUandME story? Think you’d be up to the challenge of writing and directing a short film with the help of an award-winning European director? Interested in seeing your idea be brought to life on-screen? Introducing the #EUandME Young Filmmakers Competition!

The competition is part of the #EUandME campaign, which aims to show how EU legislation and initiatives can enable you to pursue your passions. From training to traveling, surfing the internet to saving the planet, #EUandME demonstrates how the EU helps young people to do what they love most. Contestants must submit an idea for a short film that tells a story linked to the impact of the European Union in people’s daily life.

Entries can be submitted in one of 5 categories:
- Mobility
- Sustainability
- Rights
- Digital
- Skills & Business

Each category will have a winner, who will receive a grant to realize their film. To apply, participants must submit a written synopsis of the film and a short smartphone video in which they explain their motivation and the concept of their film. They must include in their application a link to a short film they have made in the past.

The EU will conduct a pre-selection on the basis of eligibility and a number of selection criteria, then a jury of senior film directors will select two nominees for each category. The 5 winners will be selected by a public vote online, which will take place in January-February 2019.

To enter the competition, you need three things:
  1. Two 500-word synopses of your proposed film, one in English and another one written in your native language.
  2. Two 60-second videos, filmed with your smartphone, explaining the rationale behind your film. One should be in English, the other in your native language.
  3. A link to a short film that you have previously made within the last 5 years.
