Due March 4th, 2019 - POLARflicks is a video contest for early career researchers and Indigenous researchers. Make a video on the research you're involved in, any polar research subject: scientific research, community perspectives, Indigenous knowledge, or a combination.

Entries should be no more than 2 minutes in length.

Prizes

First Prize
One-week introduction to research at the CHARS campus in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, including travel (from within Canada) and accommodation, to job-shadow a POLAR researcher, participate in research, or undertake other activities suited to the winner and POLAR staff. The prize includes a $500 bursary to cover food and miscellaneous expenses. If the prizewinner is a resident of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, the travel and accommodation portion of the prize will be replaced by a grant of $2,000. All other aspects of the prize will remain the same. Prizes must be claimed before March 20, 2020.

Second Prize
$1,500 grant

Third Prize
$1,000 grant

Eligibility
Open to early-career researchers (students pursuing an undergraduate thesis, Masters students, Ph.D. candidates or postdoctoral researchers) and Indigenous researchers (members of northern communities participating in community-based monitoring or Indigenous-knowledge research). The contest is not open to employees of the Government of Canada. Contestants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
