Hall Of Fame Essay and Video Contest
Educate the youth of today the lessons of citizenship.

Due September 1st, 2019 - The Bob Feller Act of Valor Foundation, through the unique intersection of baseball and the US Navy, recognizes and honors those who support our nation’s service men and women via the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award and uses the Bob Feller story to educate the youth of today the lessons of citizenship, service to one’s country, and sacrifice in times of great national need.

Thirty-Seven Baseball Hall of Fame Members and more than 500 Major League Baseball players served in World War II.

15 served in the Navy
12 served in the Army
6 served in the US Army Air Force
3 served in US Marine Corps
1 served in the Coast Guard
The essay or video will be requested from all Veteran family members with the following criteria:

One essay or video will be selected from the 11-14 Year Old Bracket and one essay or video will be selected from the 15-18 Year Old Bracket
Eligible military children will now have the opportunity in expressing who they are and the challenges that they have encountered as a military child by expressing themselves through writing or by creating a video. The essay or video should be based on lessons learned from this player, and how they can utilize these in their own life. The paper or video should explain how the young person was influenced by one of the 37 Hall of Famers who served in WWII and how they can utilize the lessons learned in overcoming their own adversities and challenges, through examples of duty and service during wartime.

Select one of the 37 Hall of Famers who chose to serve their country during war time and way of expression should focus on the Four Pillars laid out, and how they and their chosen player have embraced them.

Top two essays or videos will receive “The Military Children Act of Valor Award” and be invited to our event at the United States Navy Memorial in Washington DC. The Foundation will include Two Financial Scholarships for the Award Winners

Grand Prize Winners:

Veteran family members who have served or who are currently serving with the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard or in the National Guard or Reserve Component. Residing in one of the Following Areas – Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina or Washington DC. 11- 18 Years Old Children will be eligible.
