ReImagining Schools a Student Video Competition
If YOU could design what YOUR school would look like?
Portable Lenovo Chromebook 3 laptop

Due June 30th, 2020 - It is no surprise that schools and districts across North Carolina are changing as they create their remote learning plans post-COVID crisis, but what do students think about their learning? What do they imagine or, rather, reimagine when they think about school? The Friday Institute for Educational Innovation at NC State University, in partnership with LearnPlatform and the Wake Partnership for Postsecondary Success, is proud to announce the student reImagining Schools Video Competition to give students a voice in what the future of education and learning looks like for the state of North Carolina.

As a student in North Carolina, you have been the most impacted by the sudden shift to remote learning and teaching due to the COVID-19 crisis. A lot of things have changed and will be changing when we start the next school year — so, they want to know, if YOU could design what YOUR school would look like, what would it be and why?

They challenge you to plan and come up with solutions for a resilient learning space that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and considers the following:
If YOU could design what YOUR school would look like, what would it be and why?
How would you spend your time learning? What would it look like?
How would you collaborate and communicate with your peers and your teacher?
How would you connect with others, in class and out (i.e. clubs, sports, etc.)?
How would you rethink grades? What would you do to show your teacher what you have learned?

Think about how your “new school” vision will not only meet your needs and the needs of other students, but also address physical distancing, smaller class sizes, and the possibility they may have to do more remote learning in the future (i.e. learning from home). Then, create a video and upload it in the form on the main contest page – and don’t forget to be creative! This is a big challenge but they need to hear from you…what is YOUR vision in a world currently defined by change.

Prizes will be awarded to BOTH the first-place middle school and high school submission.

Entries must be between 1 to 2 minutes in length.
