Due October 20th, 2013 - MARVEL’S THOR: THE DARK WORLD - ULTIMATE MENTOR ADVENTURE aims to empower girls ages 14 and up in grades 9-12 to embark on a journey that will allow them to explore their potential in the world of STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Through the collaborative efforts of MARVEL, the National Academy of Sciences, and Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., girls will have a chance to go out into the real world and ask successful women in STEM fields about what they do, how they got where they are…and how others can follow in their footsteps.

Finalists from the applicant pool of MARVEL’S THOR: THE DARK WORLD - ULTIMATE MENTOR ADVENTURE will be selected for the opportunity to meet some of the most incredible women in science, all while conducting interviews, participating in experiments and interactive events, and getting the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes where the general public is not normally invited – all while having this adventure filmed.

To Enter:
  Step 1: Download, Complete, and Submit Your Forms (click link below to obtain forms)
  Step 2: Go On Your Own Hometown Mentor Adventure! This is your chance to go out into the real world and ask successful women in STEM fields about what they do, how they got where they are today, and how you might follow in their footsteps.
  Step 3: Create a 5-minute, unedited video of yourself! You may use a Smartphone, computer, tablet, or a camera to make your video. Here is what they would like to know:
     - Tell the judges about yourself. How are you like the character Jane Foster from MARVEL’s THOR?
     - Tell the judges about your interview. Whom did you meet? What does she do? How is her career related to STEM? What inspired you?
     - What next steps might you take to explore a STEM career?
     - Why do you want to come to California for MARVEL’S THOR: THE DARK WORLD - ULTIMATE MENTOR ADVENTURE? What do you think you’ll learn?

Prizes

10 Finalist Prizes
Ten Finalists will be awarded:
  (a) Round trip coach airfare for Finalist and Finalist’s parent or legal guardian to an airport in Southern California, departing on or about Sunday, November 3, 2013 and returning on or about Saturday, November 9, 2013
  (b) One standard double-occupancy hotel room for the duration of the Trip at a hotel in the Los Angeles or Orange County area
  (c) Scheduled meals
  (d) Ground transportation to and from organized activities during the Trip;
  (e) The opportunity to meet and conduct interviews with Women in Science, participate in experiments and interactive events and to be filmed for a documentary short, entitled “MARVEL’s THOR: The Dark World Ultimate Mentor Adventure”, which will be shown at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, CA on November 8, 2013.
  (f) Two tickets to a 4:20 PM opening day screening of MARVEL’s THOR: The Dark World at the El Capitan Theatre on November 8, 2013.

Eligibility
Open only to students who are 14 years and older and are currently enrolled in the 2013-2014 school year in Grades 9-12 and who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.
