Due July 1st, 2014 - Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation is now accepting submissions to its 3rd Annual IP Video Contest to educate teens and the public at large about how the patent system protects inventors and promotes progress. 

Your video should convey creatively and concisely why you believe the patent system is important based on the question chosen from the following options:
   1. How has a recently patented invention improved the quality of your life?
   2. Has anyone in your family or community built a business on a patented invention? If so, how has it affected you?
   3. How has a patented invention created new jobs and new industries in your community?
   4. How has a patented invention saved or improved the quality of someone’s life, enhanced their education, improved their connectivity, etc.?

13-15 year-old Prize Winners
Two entrants in this age group will each receive a $5,000 cash prize. 

16-18 year-old Prize Winners
Two entrants in this age group will each receive a $5,000 scholarship. Should the winner not yet be enrolled in any school at the time of prize notification, the scholarship will be available for up to two years from date of the prize notification and if not used after such time, the award will be forfeited. 

19 and over category Prize Winner
One entrant in this age group will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

Teacher Referral Award
If a winner in the 13-15 years-old and/or 16-18 years-old age group includes on his/her submission form the name of a teacher who referred him/her to the video contest, that teacher will be awarded a $1,500 cash prize, for their classroom, as recognition for encouraging IP education.

In addition to the cash prizes and scholarships, IPO Education Foundation reserves the right at its sole discretion to award each of the winners with a trip for two to the Foundation Awards Dinner in Washington, DC on December 9, 2014. The trip consists of round-trip coach airfare from the major airport nearest each winner’s residence, two-night hotel accommodations (double room), ground transportation, meals and other expenses.

Open to individuals who reside in the fifty United States, the District of Columbia, and territories and possession of the United States, ages 13 and older. Contestants will be judged according to their age group: 13-15 years-old, 16-18 years-old, and 19 and over. Entrants who are between the ages of 13 and 18 must be enrolled as full-time students in an accredited secondary, college level or trade school. Entrants enrolled in home school programs are eligible to participate.
