Due September 21st, 2014 - The National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. (NABS) promotes and perpetuates the art of Black storytelling - an art form which embodies the history, heritage, and culture of African Americans.

For this contest, NABS invites you to tell a story inspired by a real-life Hero/Shero in the black community. This person can be either an historical figure OR an unsung, unknown and uncrowned Hero/Shero who has had and are having a profound impact on your life.

Examples of storytelling genres that may be used are: Historical tales, Oral histories, Family Stories, Personal Stories, and Proverbs. Acceptable storytelling styles are oral narratives and spoken word.

Your video must not exceed 5 minutes in length.

Prizes

Category I - ADULT
   * Grand Prize: $300, Free Registration to 2014 National Association of Black Storytellers Festival and Conference in Oak Lawn, IL, November 12-16, Books, CD's and DVD of NABS Storytellers.
   * 2nd Place: $150.00, Books and CDs of NABS Storytellers
   * 3rd Place: $75, Books and CDs of NABS Storytellers

Category II - YOUTH
   * Grand Prize: $150.00,  Free Registration to 2014 National Association of  Black Storytellers Festival and Conference in Oak Lawn, IL, November 12-16, Books, CDs  and DVD of NABS Storytellers.
   * 2nd Place: $75.00, Books and CDs of NABS Storytellers.
   * 3rd Place: $25, Books and CDs of NABS Storytellers.

Eligibility
Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 14 years old at the time of entry.
