Due December 31st, 2017 - The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office is once again challenging Tennesseans to put their imagination to work by creating videos to help convey crucial fire safety messages to their fellow citizens in an exciting and effective way. Here’s your chance to show off your creativity, help saves lives, and maybe win a nifty prize to boot. Make it imaginative, make it memorable – but don’t forget to make it informative.

Select one fire safety topic to be the focus of your video:

Stand by Your Pan
Videos using this topic should highlight how to prevent cooking fires—specifically those caused by leaving cooking unattended. The video should encourage Tennesseans to always stay alert when cooking.

Give Space Heaters Space
Videos using this topic should highlight the importance of using portable heaters safely.

Fire Safety for Seniors
Older adults are at increased risk of fire death and injury. Videos using this topic should encourage Tennesseans to make sure their senior loved ones know how to prevent fires and what to do should a fire occur.

Smoking & Medical Oxygen Don’t Mix
Many fire deaths in Tennessee occur as a result of residents smoking cigarettes while using medical oxygen. Videos using this topic should highlight the importance of never mixing the two.

Close the Door!
Videos using this topic should highlight how a simple door can be one of a home’s best firefighting tools.

Use Cords with Care
Videos using this topic should highlight the proper way to use extension cords.

Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out
Videos using this topic should highlight the importance of planning and practicing a home fire escape plan that includes two ways out of every room.

Equip your Home with Working Smoke Alarms
Videos using this topic should highlight the importance of having working smoke alarms in a home and
should emphasize that alarms need to be replaced every 10 years.
