ASIRT Road Safety PSA Contest 2026: Student Videos Can Win $200
Make a one-minute road-safety message that can change a habit
The 2026 ASIRT and MCR PSA Contest asks Montgomery County Public Schools students to turn road-safety research into a short video their classmates will actually remember. The theme is “Step Up for Road Safety,” and the strongest entries will focus on one preventable behavior rather than trying to cover every hazard at once.
Contest details
- Deadline: October 4, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
- Who can enter: MCPS students in grades 6–12, individually or in teams of two.
- Entry fee: Free.
- Prizes: First place receives a $200 Amazon gift card and second place receives a $100 Amazon gift card in both the middle-school and high-school categories. Qualifying entries can also earn 10 SSL hours.
- Video format: An original 45–60 second PSA submitted as an accessible YouTube link, MOV, or MP4.
What the PSA needs to do
Choose a road-safety issue—such as distracted driving or walking, impaired driving, seat belts, bicycle helmets, or the trip to school—and show viewers what safer behavior looks like. The rules ask entrants to use the word “crash” rather than “accident,” support the message with research, and include an approved ASIRT logo.
The video cannot be a slideshow or PowerPoint presentation. It must be original student work created on or after June 8, and a video created entirely with generative AI is not eligible.
How to enter
Upload the completed video through a personal account that outside judges can access, then submit the public or shareable link through the official form. Do not use an MCPS Google account for the upload because external reviewers may be unable to open it. The ending must identify each creator’s name, grade, and school, and a parent or guardian should review the consent section before submission.
Rights and details to check
Use only original or properly licensed material, including music. Confirm the SSL requirements, approved logo, permissions, and file-sharing settings against the organizer’s current document before submitting.
