Fall48 Film Challenge 2026: Cash and Tuition Prizes

Write, shoot, and edit an original short film in 48 hours

Fall48, hosted by the University of Idaho, challenges teams of one to five filmmakers to build a complete short film around four surprise creative elements.

Key details

• Registration deadline: October 6, 2026.
• Challenge window: October 9–11, 2026.
• Eligibility: U.S. high school students; current University of Idaho students; Pacific Northwest filmmakers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana; and University of Idaho alumni worldwide.
• Entry fee: Free for high school and current UI teams. Community/alumni teams pay $15 only if they complete and submit a film.
• Prizes: Cash prizes in all categories plus scholarship awards in the high-school and current-student categories.

Films must be created during the official 48-hour window, use the assigned elements, and include required talent and location releases. The rules prohibit generative AI for scripts.
