The North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) is not just an international conference for students passionate about diplomacy and international affairs; it's also a platform for showcasing your skills and talents. NAIMUN offers a range of exciting contests that provide participants with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. NAIMUN strives to engage all delegates with the substance of international affairs both in and out of the competitive committee simulation experience. This year, we are thrilled to revamp our NAIMUN Essay Contest and Video Contest, which is an opportunity for delegates to engage with important global issues outside of committee and through creative work.

Please note that the essay and video are separate competitions and are each considered individually. Contestants may choose up to ONE prompt in each category for their submission.

VIDEO CONTEST PROMPTS

In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Sustainable Development Goals, which are a set of 17 goals designed to be a “shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future". Select one of the goals and create a video explaining why countries should prioritize this goal. Your video can be funny or serious! You’re encouraged to get creative and use facts and events from the past and present to support your argument.

Create a music video for an international relations-related parody of a song you love. You can make a video for a song of any genre by any artist as long as the final product is appropriate.
